About Us



Russell Equestrian Centre was founded in 1974 by Carol Boulton (BHSSM) who is the present day owner. Assisted by her daughter Verity, mother Alma and niece Lucy, the centre is a family run organisation.

Carol

With over 30 years experience in equestrian activities, Carol has attained the level of BHSSM BHSI stable manager (BHS level 1), making her one of the most highly qualified proprietors in Hampshire. . Other certifications and experience include:

Verity

Verity is Carol’s daughter. She is yard manager and a competent and effective rider who is currently schooling Russell’s Porcellus ready for competition this year. Verity holds the following formal qualifications:

Verity is working towards her level 1 in Ride With your Mind and gives private tuition in this technique.

Lucy
Lucy is Carol's niece. She is studying zoology at Southampton University and has recently returned from six month’s work at a riding school for the disabled in Israel. Lucy has begun to take on the principles of Ride With your Mind and also assists the Epona Trust in "starting" horses on rehabilition programs using Monty Roberts roundpen work and PatParelli traininig techniques. The methods negate the use of force thereby assisting the animal to gain trust and confidence to become receptive to future training.

Lucy is studying to take her ABRS exams. At weekends Lucy coaches group lessons and mangages the Pony Club.

Simon

Simon is 16 and is currently at school. When not helping out at the stables, he is working towards qualifications in horse management.

Wendy
Wendy has been at Russells for 25 years. She is the livery yard manager and is a qualified BHSAI. Wendy owns Molly who was born at Russells and has had many competitiion successes with her.
